The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Electoral Commission of manipulating the ongoing voter biometric registration in certain parts of Accra to favour the ruling party. The Greater Accra NPP branch is alleging that new registration centres have been created in the region without their knowledge, “contrary to the agreed number of registration centres.”
A statement signed by the Regional Director of Communication of the party, Michael Kwabena Ampong, claimed it has “uncovered that most registration equipment sent to perceived NPP strongholds are faulty resulting in undue delay of the registration exercise in such centres. Places affected mostly are Dansoman, Tema and parts of Teshie and Nungua.” It has therefore called on Ghanaians to be vigilante as the registration takes place across the country.
