The Public Integrity Division opened the case after receiving a complaint that alleged hundreds of people voted illegally, said Deputy District Attorney Dave Demerjian, the head of the division.
The complaint alleged people who don’t live in Montebello voted in the contentious November election. The big issue of the campaign was an exclusive, 15-year trash-hauling contract the city gave Athens Services.

Votes from the eSlate voting machines, which are primarily intended for use by voters with disabilities, haven’t been examined as part of the recount.
In order to recount the eSlate machines, Harp would need to be called. The company would charge $1,200 a day for each technician, according to Schrand’s June 4 order.

Australia: NSW to adopt e-voting
iVote to roll out for the next state election
The NSW Electoral Commission (NSWEC) is to implement an electronic voting system, iVote, for the next State Government election due in early 2010.
iVote will allow blind, vision impaired, and disabled voters, as well as those living in remote areas, to cast a secret and unassisted vote from home and other locations using an interactive voice recognition-based phone number or an Internet-enabled PC.
The NSWEC is expecting up to 8,340 telephone and up to 6,660 Internet voters will use the iVote system for the 2011 election.
