Los Angeles County California and Travis County Texas are each creating public-owned and operated voting systems. Florida legislative leaders announced that they will not appeal a judge’s ruling striking down gerrymandered Congressional districts and will redraw the invalid map – but only after the 2014 election. Under the supervision of American and United Nations observers, Afghan election workers began auditing the votes cast in last month’s controversial presidential election runoff and the Australian government has rejected demands to make it voting system source code available for independent review.
