Students at the prestigious TIMA-CADDE University yesterday held a massive demonstration in Gebiley town against the national electoral commission. The students demonstration coincided with same time the Presidential convoy was passing through the town en-route to Borama , with reports saying the President Silanyo convoy was booed and others even suggesting their attempted stoning of the convoy.
The demonstration by the students was instigated by the election commission biased decision to excluded students from the institution in the electoral monitoring process unlikely other universities in the country which are include in the process.
Police in the town opened fire in attempt to disperse demonstrating students who blocked the vehicles in the Presidential convoy from passing through the town while carrying placards saying “NO VOTE”. This is the second time such demonstration against the National Electoral Commission has been held in the town.
