The Montgomery County Board of Elections recommended Voter Services’ director and assistant director be suspended without pay for misleading the Election Board about people mistakenly registered to vote.
On Wednesday, the Election Board voted 3-0 to recommend Director Joseph Passarella be suspended for two days without pay and Assistant Director Patricia Allen one day without pay.
Commissioners Joseph M. Hoeffel and James R. Matthews and Montgomery County Judge Kelly C. Wall make up the Board of Elections.
A Voter Services employee wrongly registered about 3,200 people to vote after receiving their names from PennDOT. The individuals were actually not registered voters. The people, who had changed their addresses at PennDOT centers were designated “unaffiliated,” and a Voter Services worker concluded that they had registered to vote.
