“[The General Assembly] didn’t seem to care if you skip voting for Congress, County Board or sheriff, so there’s no equal protection. It seems to be a very flawed law. It’s Illinois at work,” Helander said.

01/08/2010 MADISON (WPR) …The ruling in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals throws out a Washington state law that prohibits felons both in and out of prison from voting. The ruling found the law violates the federal voting rights act because it discriminates against African Americans.
Wisconsin state representative Joe Parisi of Monona is now co-sponsoring a bill that would grant voting rights to felons as soon as they leave prison. He says the Washington state ruling reinforces the argument he is making in support of expanding voting rights…

January 7, 2010 WASHINGTON — Military members serving overseas will have to resubmit their voter registration this year if they hope to cast a ballot in the November midterm elections.
Veterans, military dependents and other U.S. civilians living overseas will have to as well. Changes in federal law mandate that voters must request a new absentee ballot each year in order to participate in state and federal elections, instead of the previous practice of requiring new applications only every few years.
