The Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ) is warning that there will be strong action against people who seek to commit breaches on Election Day.
Just hours before Jamaicans go to the polls, in a national broadcast last night, ECJ chairman professor Errol Miller also sought to clarify aspects of the electoral process. Professor Miller sought to assure that the integrity of the country’s electoral system will be maintained.
The ECJ Chairman, Professor Errol Miller, said past experiences have made many Jamaicans suspicious that tomorrow’s general elections could be rigged in favour of certain candidates.
However, Professor Miller said Jamaicans should dismiss those fears because the systems have been put in place to ensure the integrity of the voting process.
At the same time, Professor Miller has sent a strong warning to those contemplating corrupt or illegal practices saying the electoral laws will be strictly enforced.
