A meeting to hear charges against Cindy Phillippi was scheduled for Wednesday morning. But the hearing was canceled after Phillippi, through her attorney, submitted a 5-page resignation agreement to the Adams County Board during a closed door session Tuesday night. The resignation is effective Wednesday. The agreement does not include an admission of liability. Phillippi will be on paid leave through the end of the year. Board Chair John West said she will continue to provide consultation during the transition period.
… “Because there is value to have her be available for consultation. Without the clerk we do have to have statutory duty provided by that office. So the deputy clerks may need to consult with her to make sure that everything is done accordingly,” West said.
However, Phillippi will not have access to the building or the computer system.
“We’ve done things to secure our computer systems to ensure that, as much as you can, be assured that any of the, not loopholes, but any of the tunnels that may have been created, that there are none. When that was discovered, we tried to take steps accordingly to try to reduce the implications of that and try to make sure fail safe and safeguards are in to protect data and to provide and would not provide unauthorized access,” West said.
