According to the La Crosse County Clerk, new voter ID regulations could mean more paperwork, training and cost for La Crosse County.
County Clerk Ginny Dankmeyer said municipalities will have to pay more for extra poll workers, there would be new voter ID training required for county clerks and additional paperwork for provisional ballots.
“If they do bring it back then these are provisional ballots that we will have to open up during the canvass. So it will be additional work during the canvass to take care of this. On the municipal side, it is more training of the clerks. They need to make sure things are acceptable, making sure everything is being done properly with this new bill,” said Dankmeyer.
Under the amended bill, Dankmeyer said college IDs would be accepted only if they have a signature and are within two years of expiration.
