A top official with the Vermont Senate says lawmakers won’t need to pick Vermont’s next lieutenant governor. A tally by the Secretary of State’s Office showed Progressive-Democrat David Zuckerman beat Republican Randy Brock but had less than 50 percent, sending the election to the Legislature.
But Senate Secretary John Bloomer says that count included ballots with lieutenant governor left blank. Zuckerman did get more than 50 percent from those who cast votes for lieutenant governor, meaning last Tuesday’s result stands.
Brock, who received 43.5 percent of the vote, conceded to Zuckerman late on election night.
