Hinds County election officials were still counting votes Friday after discovering another box of absentee ballots.
The results for the Hinds County sheriff’s Democratic primary are still unknown. Challenger Tyrone Lewis was making what sounded like an acceptance speech Tuesday night when 16 WAPT News discovered a discrepancy in the numbers.
Four-term incumbent Malcolm McMillin is waiting for the problems to be sorted out. “We are seeing now that two days after the election, that all the votes haven’t been counted,” McMillin said on Thursday.
Election officials said it could be Monday or Tuesday before the results of the primary are certified.
