Missouri voters will determine the fate of a long-debated voter identification requirement in November. Secretary of State Jason Kander announced Monday that a joint resolution has been certified for the November 2016 ballot. The General Assembly authorized the measure to put the voter ID issue on the ballot.
The official ballot title for Constitutional Amendment 6 requires voters to verify identity, citizenship and residence by presenting identification that may include valid government-issued photo identification.
Kander’s ballot language indicates that the cost to state and local governments is unknown but could exceed $2.1 million.
