State election officials will hold a review next week of the Saguache County election, although specific dates remain to be finalized, a spokesman for Secretary of State Scott Gessler said Tuesday. Spokesman Andrew Cole said the review might run for part of Monday and all of Tuesday and Wednesday at the Saguache Community Building. He expected those details to be ironed out today.
“There’s nothing new that we will be addressing that we haven’t already described in any earlier reports,” he said.
Both reports upheld the results from a second count undertaken by county election officials that overturned the races for county commissioner and clerk and recorder in favor of their Democratic incumbents.
The grand jury investigation, which was done because of a conflict of interest that prevented local prosecutors from looking into the election, cleared Clerk and Recorder Melinda Myers. Critics of the election have pointed to the procedural errors committed by the clerk’s office that were identified in both earlier reports.
