In a small Virginia town with a population of 200, there are few aspiring politicians. In fact, there are so few that Newsoms, Virginia, found itself with a unique problem on Election Day Tuesday: No one ran for office, and the ballot was blank.
The town, near the North Carolina border, didn’t produce a single nominee for seven open positions, so now the entire election will be decided based on write-in votes.
Right now, it’s anyone’s guess who will be mayor, or councilman or councilwoman after the vote count this morning.
