The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued the formal schedule for Senate Elections, according to which the said polls will be held on March 2 this year. The formal announcement by the ECP has cleared the fog created by rumours regarding postponement or an early holding of Senate elections in the backdrop of swiftly changing political scenario in the country.
According to the announcement made by the Election Commission of Pakistan, it will receive nomination papers of candidates for the senate polls on February 13 and 14. The contestants will be allowed to withdraw their nominations until February 24, while the final list of the candidates will also be displayed on the same date.
According to the news received by the ECP, 50 members of senate are retiring on March 11, and the seats vacated by them will be filled in by the new members.
