An election recount is under way in Davison County, where hundreds of votes may have been counted more than once. The new count is being conducted Thursday at the Davison County courthouse after a technician fixed the voting machine. Ballots will be run through the machine twice before results are handed over to the county canvassing board.
County auditor Susan Kiepke tells The Daily Republic (http://bit.ly/MqxLjG) that test data also may have gotten into the machine during the original counting. She says it’s possible that Tuesday’s unofficial results could change the outcome of some local races and issues.
The margin was wide enough in the District 20 Republican primary for state Senate to not affect that race. Incumbent Sen. Mike Vehle defeated Steve Sibson 65 percent to 35 percent.
