The office of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) based in Maasin City has started distributing the first batch of voter’s ID to its recipients in the city of Maasin.
Out of 48,781 registered voters, as of the latest barangay elections, only 10,603 voter’s ID intended for Maasin City have arrived yet, Laurence Irman Gelsano, the Acting Election Officer III reported to PIA in an interview today.
Gelsano said only the voter’s ID for the new voter registrants who have filed their applications from 2006 until 2010 and some transferees were among in the packing list , however, not all of them even are assured to get their voter’s ID.
He said that for those old voter registrants, even if their voter’s information have been updated with the capture of biometrics, are not included in the partial available voter’s ID for distribution this time.
All of the 70 barangays in Maasin City have voter’s ID for distribution, he said. The packing list were based on the records received from the Printing Section/ Data Migration, it was learned.
